Quick Thought: do you have to go back to 1995 (or even 1982?) to find a Duke-UNC game with less meaning?
And less hype?
ESPN effectively launched its first "spin-off", ESPN2 with the Duke-UNC game back in the mid-1990s by broadcasting the game exclusively on "the Deuce."
Today, it's barely part of "Rivalry Week."

NCAA Final
Following up on the last post, the final score in the NCAA championship game was of course, UNC 89 Michigan State 72 in a game that was not even as close as the score indicated.
Obviously a sample size of one is meaningless, although the Pomeroy ratings did not distinguish themselves with the 14-game sample discussed here either.

The Anteaters' Dream Ends...
The Anteaters of Cal-Irvine have thrilled NCAA College World Series watchers over the past two nights with comeback extra-inning wins in elimination games against Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State on successive nights. But the dream died tonight against Oregon State, the defending champs.
Rice and UNC play tomorrow for the right to take on Oregon State in the finals (2 of 3 series).
